Lithium Ion Batteries

• Lighter and Smaller

Lithium-ion batteries are lighter and smaller than Lead-Acid batteries, roughly a third of the weight and half the size making them ideal if you have limited space.

• Slim and Compact Design

One of the first things you’ll notice is how Slim the designs of lithium-ion batteries are. 

• Higher Efficiency

Lithium-ion has a Depth of Charge of 80% unlike Lead-Acid which has 50%.  They can discharge completely without losing amps.

• Increased Cycles

Lithium-ion batteries can average around 5000 – 7000 cycles making it a great long-term solar storage option.

• Consistent Discharge Voltage

On discharge, the voltage is inconsistent with Lead-Acid batteries.  Lithium-ion batteries stay consistent throughout the discharging process making it a better and safer option.

• Better Long-Term Option

Although the initial cost is higher, the return on investment is better considering the lifespan, ability, and performance. The lifespan and ability outperform the Lead-Acid option.

• Low Maintenance
  Chances are you’ll forget the battery is there because it requires very little maintenance.
• More Environmentally Friendly
  Lithium ion batteries are much more environmentally friendly, meaning you leave a smaller carbon footprint.

As mentioned earlier, lithium-ion is not the perfect solution. It has some drawbacks you want to consider first, and they include:

• Cost
  While you save money in the long run, it doesn’t make the initial investment any less intimidating.
• Overheating
  You don’t want a lithium battery overheating, seeing as it will degrade the efficiency.
